MARY ALICE

Mary Alice is a dreamer. On the outside she looks conventional, but inside she is not. She has her own secrets. They are not that important, nonetheless they are hers.

Mary Alice is my third character from my social media art project Born Nowhere, which crowd-sourced identities.

At this moment, she did not know her name or her future characteristics; she existed as a thought in my mind and had yet to enter the social media conversation.

During the process of embodying this new persona, I created this artwork as Mary Alice to translate her feelings into images. The impulse to produce this series was unconscious. It developed as a need to express the character’s personality and reaffirm its existence.
